We host two major mission and outreach programs here at First United Methodist Church, but we are always open for new ideas and new ways to serve the Lord in Magnolia, Columbia County, and the world!
Each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, our wonderful cooks, Libby and George Gilbert, prepare and serve a meal to anyone in Magnolia who needs a hot meal. Each person can come and collect up to 4 hot to-go meals, every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4:00-5:30 P.M. People from the community come and help Libby and George serve each night. On average we serve 200 people in the Magnolia community each time were open.
To receive a meal, please come to the Glass doors, under the awning, off of Madison Street on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Stew Pot is always looking for help serving! Contact the church office at 234-4530 for more information.
Stew Pot is closed on Federal Holidays.
The Caring Place of Magnolia is a fee based adult respite program designed to provide social interaction and stimulating exercise opportunities for participants with early memory loss and dementia.
The Caring Place is open on Thursdays for four hours (10:00 am to 2:00 pm).
The weekly schedule includes activities that connect and engage, such as games that consist of bingo, checkers and a simple puzzle. Hand-eye coordination is challenged on the Wii, an interactive video game that allows participants to play virtual bowling and other sports. The exercise routine consists of stretching and kicking beach balls, and the music segment varies from familiar hymns to dance tunes. Other activities include crafts, special entertainment and field trips.
If you wish to volunteer to serve, contact Barbara Lewis at 234-4530. For More information on The Caring Place, click here.
At First United Methodist Church, we value mission work. We have a very active Mission committee that meets regularly throughout the year. Please contact Chairman Bo Ray or the Church office for meeting times and more information.
